چکیده

High-pressure Raman spectroscopic experiments of anglesite, PbSO4, were carried out in a diamond anvil cell up to about 35 GPa at room temperature. Two stages of changes in the pattern of wavenumber-versus-pressure plot were observed in most of the vibrational modes. The first stage of change is the kink in the slope of wavenumber-versus-pressure plot at about 14 GPa, indicating a change in the force constant of modes. Further compression up to 21 GPa causes the splitting in the S-O stretching modes, representing the distortion of SO4 tetrahedron. The behavior of transition observed in PbSO4 is similar to that of BaSO4 as well as those found in the solid solution series of BaSO4-SrSO4. Transitions taking place at higher pressure for anglesite is due to the relatively greater value of electronegativity for Pb, as compared with M in other complex compounds of similar structure.

In situ high-pressure study of sodium amide by Raman and infrared spectroscopies.

Here we report the first in situ high-pressure study of sodium amide (NaNH(2)) as an agent in potential hydrogen storage applications by using combined Raman and infrared (IR) spectroscopies at room temperature and pressures up to ~16 GPa. Starting with an orthorhombic crystal structure at ambient pressure, sodium amide was found to transform to two new phases upon compression as evidenced by t...

High-pressure Raman scattering study on zircon- to scheelite-type structural phase transitions of RCrO4

High-pressure Raman scattering experiments were performed on the zircon-type RCrO4 R=Nd, Dy compounds with the space group I41 /amd by using diamond anvil cell techniques at room temperature. These two compounds exhibit similar Raman behaviors. Pressure-induced structural phase transitions were observed at the onset of 1.3 and 4.1 GPa for R=Nd and Dy, respectively. Moreover, pressure-released R...

We have studied single crystals of C70 by Raman scattering and photoluminescence in the pressure range from 0 to 31.1 GPa. The Raman spectrum at 31.1 GPa shows only a broad band similar to that of the amorphous carbon without any trace of the Raman lines of C70. After releasing the pressure from 31.1 GPa, the Raman and the photoluminescence spectra of the recovered sample are that of the starti...

High-pressure optical study of HfW2O8

Abstract A high-pressure optical absorption study and Raman and infrared spectroscopy are carried out on hafnium tungstate (HfW2O8) at room temperature. The band gap decreases rapidly with pressure until ∼9 GPa is reached, increases between 9 and 16 GPa, and slowly decreases with pressure from 16 to 47 GPa. The changes under pressure of the vibrational modes have been studied, and an estimate o...

High pressure Raman spectroscopy of spinel-type ferrite ZnFe2O4

An in-situ Raman spectroscopic study was conducted to explore the pressure induced phase transformation of spinel-type ferrite ZnFe2O4. Results indicate that ferrite ZnFe2O4 initially transforms to an orthorhombic structure phase (CaFe2O4polymorph) at a pressure of 24.6 GPa. Such a phase transformation is complete at 34.2 GPa, and continuously remains stable to the peak pressure of 61.9 GPa. Th...
